 Fourth of July Festivities

Fourth of July across Idaho was jam packed with all sorts of celebratory events and Ann Morrison park in Boise was no exception.  With Slide the City's end point being at the park, Stand Up America in the park, Boise River floaters disembarking at the park and the fireworks presentation later in the evening, well, you get the picture.
Speaking of pictures, photographer John Beliera was on the scene and snapped some fine shots of this day long smorgasbord of fun.  Starting with Slide the City, it's apparent that splashing down Americana Boulevard in an inner tube was a big hit...
Anyone at the park noticed the great time kids were having on bikes.  Boise Parks and Recreation partnered with George's Cycles to provide multiple bicycle events all day long including a rodeo and bike decorating competition.  Kids delighted in showing off their decorated rides and the rodeo was a big hit, too!
The grandstand at the west end of the park showcased a variety of entertainment emceed by Stand Up America founder Derrick Boles.  Acts included Danza Azteca Quetzalcoatl (Aztec heritage dance group) and various musical groups that contributed to the festive atmostphere.
Local artists could be seen decorating the sidewalks leading up to the grandstand with colorful and creative chalk art.  For budding artists there was a separate chalk land that quite a number of youngsters were taking advantage of to show off their skills.  Whether creating or observing, the chalk art festival drew appreciative crowds.
With its vast acreage, Ann Morrison Memorial Park comfortably allowed hundreds of families, friends, bicyclists, river floaters and Fourth of July revelers to enjoy the day.  Shady spots were plentiful, splashing in the fountain a great respite from the heat and strategically placed vendors provided tasty food and cold drinks so that all had a great time.
The culmination of the day's activities and what everyone had been waiting for were the fireworks!  As always, they elicited "oohs" and "aahs" of delight from the crowd and capped a wonderful Fourth of July day of celebration.
