BOISE, Idaho (June 2, 2015) — After a record-setting year of growth, the Discovery Center of Idaho will unveil its newest exhibition, FIZZYOLOGY: The Science Behind Bubbles, presented by the Micron Foundation, on June 6. This will be the science center’s second consecutive exhibition designed and produced in-house.
FIZZYOLOGY — a hands-on exploration of the science behind bubbles and how and why they appear in everyday life — will run through November 2015. Marquee exhibits include a giant bubble ring patrons can get inside, a bubble geyser, a bubble heartbeat tank, a toddler area, and an activity station where visitors can perform bubble experiments. The exhibition features more than ten interactive exhibits overall.
“FIZZYOLOGY is the perfect way to kick off summer and beat the heat,” said Discovery Center Exhibits Director Eric Miller. “Adults will love the science behind the exhibits, and what kid doesn’t love bubbles? It’s a win-win for every member of the family.”
With the hiring of Miller, a renowned Exhibits Director, the center is rapidly moving toward elite exhibition status, which it hopes will result in higher attendance. Miller is a seasoned exhibition designer, fabricator, space planner, project manager, and leader who specializes in conceptualizing and building highly experiential learning environments. His previous work includes exhibitions at the Museum of Natural History in Eugene, Oregon, the Imaginarium Discovery Center in Anchorage, Alaska, and the Mobius Science Center in Spokane, Washington.
Future exhibitions at the Discovery Center include Superstruct: Some Assembly Required coming this fall, and a to-be-named exhibition on energy in 2016. “We are thrilled about FIZZYOLOGY and our upcoming lineup,” said Executive Director Kristine Barney. “The Discovery Center remains dedicated to fun, interactive STEM education and that will continue to be apparent in the quality of our new exhibits.”
