​22nd Annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival.

The mission of the Festival is to gather, present and preserve the history and cultures of sheepherding in Idaho and the West.

This festival includes the "Big Sheep Parade" but there is much more going on in the days before the trailing...Sheep Folklife Fair, Sheep Tales Gathering, Sheep Jam, sheep dog trials, workshops, exhibits, lamb fest, picnic, and much more....

Wed Oct. 10th

6 pm Farm to Table Dinners with American lamb and local produce

4 - 6:30 pm Taste & Craft - Ketchum, Idaho’s only beer, wine, spirits and food event.

Dawn to dusk Sheep dog trials
4:30 pm For the Love of Lamb, experience lamb bites from some of the best kitchens in Ketchum
7 pm Sheep Tales Gathering

10 - 4 The popular Folklife Fair provides demonstrations of sheep shearing, displays of sheep wagons, crafts for children, spinning and weaving demonstrations by regional and local artisans and traditional Basque food
with lots of scrumptious lamb dishes served by top chefs and restaurants.
6 - 10 pm Sheep Jam: cocktail hour, Lamb dinner buffet and show featuring The Dusty 45s at Whiskey Jacques in Ketchum

Sun. Oct 14th
Dawn - 2 pm Sheep Dog Trials
9-11:30 am Sheep Photography Outing
10 am - 3 pm - Trailing of the sheep art show, parade picnic & Music
12 noon  - TRAILING OF THE SHEEP PARADE. Join an authentic trailing of the sheep down Ketchum's Main Street as part of their annual migration to winter pastures. 1,500 sheep parade down Ketchum's Main Street with the men and women of Faulkner Land &
Livestock. The parade includes historic sheep wagons and participants from the Folklife Fair, each identified by sign-bearing dancers from the Footlight Dance Centre. Be sure to join in the post parade festivities.
2 ­- 3:30 pm - Sheepherder Hike & Stories

There is a lot more going on... workshops, fiber classes, a film, sheepdog trials, sheepdog sponsoring, wool fest....
